$155 million to be spent on Iowa water quality
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - More than $155 million in state and
federal dollars are to be spent on water quality projects in Iowa.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the
Iowa Finance Authority said Wednesday that the money will go to
sewage system upgrades and improved drinking water treatment. The
funding is to be used on 79 water quality projects statewide.
State officials say $95.4 million in wastewater projects will
include efforts such as construction of new wastewater treatment
facilities and correction of combined sewer overflows.
Officials say $60.2 million in drinking water projects will
include upgrade of distribution systems and development of new
water sources.
