Carroll, IA -- Republican Gubernatorial candidate Rod Roberts picked up more support as Bill Schickel a member of the Republican Party of Iowa State Central Committee announced he’s resigning his post to support Roberts in his bid to be Iowa’s next governor. Schickel says committee members agreed to remain neutral during the primary race but he says he can no longer stay neutral. He says Roberts is the only candidate who has demonstrated an ability to bring together the fiscal and social conservative wings of the party. He calls Roberts the candidate with momentum even though Roberts is labeled as an underdog. Roberts claimed 19 percent of the vote in a Dallas County poll and won a straw poll in Guthrie County this past weekend.
