Santorum urges Iowa evangelicals to act
WINDSOR HEIGHTS, Iowa (AP) - Former Republican Sen. Rick
Santorum is telling Iowa evangelicals that he was once a "pro-life
fraud" who only gave lip service to the abortion issue. Now he's
calling himself a national anti-abortion leader.
The former Pennsylvania lawmaker told the Iowa Christian
Alliance on Tuesday night that he's come to welcome attacks on his
conservative views on abortion.
Santorum says conservatives must be rallied by the Obama
administration. He argues that liberals have already launched
attacks on religious and social conservatives.
The speech is part of Santorum's second swing through Iowa.
Religious conservatives play a key role in the Iowa precinct
caucuses that traditionally launch the presidential nominating
season.
